When we say a subscription saves “up to 22% on the compensable tariff” — the portion of the bill that energy credits can offset — we are being precise, and that precision matters. Here is what your electricity bill is made of, and which part the discount lands on.
What your bill is made of
An energy bill gathers items of very different natures: the energy you actually consumed (TE), the use of the distribution grid (TUSD), taxes, tariff flags and charges such as public lighting.
Energy credits from distributed generation offset the share of the bill tied to the energy consumed — that share is the compensable tariff. Some components, such as part of the grid cost and fixed fees, cannot be offset under sector rules.
Why we say “up to 22%”
blu.'s discount applies to the compensable tariff, which is why we speak of up to 22% on it — roughly 17% of the total on a typical bill. The exact figure varies with the utility, the make-up of your bill and your consumption profile.
Promising a discount “on the whole bill” without naming the base is a half-truth. We would rather give the right number on the right base.
